Description
Red Borscht is a classic Eastern European beet soup with a rich colour and deep, comforting flavour. The mix includes potatoes, carrots, onion, cabbage, beets, bell peppers, fresh dill and parsley, plus minced pork meatballs, tomato paste, a touch of sugar and 9% vinegar for a balanced sweet-sour taste. Salt and pepper complete the traditional flavour profile.
This red borscht mix is perfect for family lunches, dinners and festive tables when you want authentic beet soup without preparing every ingredient from scratch – just cook from frozen and enjoy the taste of tradition.
Cooking Method
Bring 2.5 liters (about 2.6 quarts) of water to a boil. Add the frozen mixture (potatoes, cabbage, and meatballs), stir, and cook for 15 minutes over medium heat.
Add the sautéed carrots and cook for 5 minutes. Then add the sautéed beets and cook for another 5 minutes, until everything is fully heated through.
Add the included herb packet, stir, and let the soup sit for a few minutes before serving to allow the flavors to develop.
Serve hot with a dollop of sour cream. Enjoy!
